STOCKHOLM WATERFRONT ACHIEVES VERIFIED NET ZERO STATUS
On 30 September, Stockholm Waterfront officially becomes a Verified Net Zero Congress Centre, marking the next stage in its work towards net zero emissions across the entire operation. Independently verified by TÜV Rheinland, the milestone will be celebrated at an event at Stockholm Waterfront.
When Stockholm Waterfront opened in 2011, it was already recognised as one of Europe’s most energy-efficient buildings. Sustainability is quite literally built into its walls: solar panels in the façade capture the sun’s energy, while water from nearby Klara sjö helps cool the building. Now, through the Verified Net Zero programme, Stockholm Waterfront is raising its ambitions further, extending its climate work across the entire operation.
Verified Net Zero is Radisson Hotel Group’s initiative to reduce emissions from its hotels and meeting venues. It covers energy use, day-to-day operations and the supply chain, with emissions measured and assessed in line with the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels. The aim is to reduce emissions as far as possible and address those that remain responsibly.
At Stockholm Waterfront, this means looking closely at how energy is used, what food is served, which products are purchased and how waste is prevented and managed. The adjoining Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel is also achieving Verified Net Zero status, bringing both hotel and congress operations within the programme.
“For us, this is about turning our climate commitments into practical action. We need to understand where emissions arise, make changes where we can have an impact and track the results. Independent scrutiny matters — both to us and to the people who choose to meet here.”

About Verified Net Zero
Radisson Hotel Group’s Verified Net Zero programme is based on the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, developed by the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance in collaboration with other industry organisations. It covers energy, operations and the supply chain. Participating properties are independently assessed by TÜV Rheinland, a German testing, inspection and certification company.
Each participating property commits to tangible changes designed to turn climate ambitions into measurable results. Radisson Hotel Group is expanding the programme to cover more than ten hotels in 2026.
